Who Says You Can't Put ALL Your Eggs in One Basket?
March 21, 2021
Happy Spring Equinox, everyone! We hope you are all enjoying the longer days and your stars are aligning and chakras balancing!
Here at #MakeZaneBetter, we have a super cool springtime announcement, which will tie into Easter which is just around the corner! My Aunt Bonnie has worked tirelessly on a new beautiful donation for Zane's care fund. Please set your gaze on these beautiful handpainted Pysanky eggs.
Pysanky, also known as Ukrainian Easter Eggs, derives its name from the word pysaty which means "to write." The correct pronunciation is Pisanka. Ukrainian women have been decorating pysanky for centuries. In earlier times, they were decorated in an incredibly special and ritualistic manor. If the egg were not prepared perfectly, it would lose all of the magical powers it was intended to have. The messages on the pysanka were strong because the egg itself is the greatest symbol of life. Pysanky were decorated to summon spring, to protect from evil, and given as gifts to loved ones with individual messages of good will. Ukrainians accepted Christianity over a thousand years ago in 988AD. The beautiful folk art of decorating pysanky was easily incorporated into the celebration of Easter.
Who says you can't put all your eggs in one basket? Auction will open tomorrow at 10am through Saturday, April 3rd. Winner will be announced Easter morning! Thank you to Aunt Bonnie for her exquisite craftsmanship and unique donation!
