Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me
Good Morning. Still in Memphis. Still in Methodist University Hospital. Still in ICU. Hoping to go back to step-down today, but still waiting on a bed. Zane did get his peg feeding tube installed yesterday, so today we get to get rid of the NG tube in his nose. He's still not responsive and we are at a month since he last spoke a word or smiled at me.
Yesterday was really rough. For me. We had gotten very close to working out a transfer to Florida and it unraveled just as they were taking him for his procedure yesterday morning. Suffice it to say, I spent a lot of yesterday crying. But today, even though I want to keep crying and hide, I can't, so I will keep working on a new solution to get Zane home. There are many people helping with this. The bottom line is we need to have an accepting physician in an Orlando hospital, someone willing to have their unit take Zane as a patient. From there, we can assess what his next needs are and get him in his proper long-term program(s).
Went home to the apartment yesterday and got laundry done and made calls. And cried. A lot. Just as I was leaving to come back to the hospital, I caught the sunset. Zane and I would really enjoy our evenings, playing board games and looking out at this gorgeous view. I wish he could be home there again, back in treatment at St. Jude and none of this was happening. I'm really having it rough trying to understand WHY??

Outside of us, though, I'd like to ask this group to also pray for two other families we are close with who were going through treatment at St. Jude at the same time/pace as Zane.
