Still sorting through the Complications

Hello everyone. There hasn't been much change in Zane to report. There's been a LOT of medical tests to sort through and I have all types of docs form varying units coming. It's all still being reviewed and the answers aren't clear just yet. St. Jude docs are weighing in so this is all taking time to get through. Zane has so many different things going on at once, it's like performing a balancing act on a pointy nose with a well-oiled, heavily-weighted ball.

Cardio is still on top of this. They think there may be Long QT syndrome which is when a patient experiences fast, chaotic heartbeats (he's at 645), but it's all on hold until Monday after neuro steps in and does their part, which is where the main focus seems it needs to be. Meds are keeping his heart rhythm in check. He does throw PVCs here and there and that was kicking off the cardiac events, but we are at 36 hours + without an event, so neuro is the big focus.

With neuro, there are some new things to be concerned about, but we still aren't sure about it all. The lepto spread is still being investigated. There are some areas of Zane's brain that MAY have been affected by the lack of oxygen he may have gone without and until he wakes, we can't know for sure. And these areas are where memory, speech and motor functions reside. So, I'm terrified.

We have weaned Zane from his sedation medicine to see what reactions we can get. This can take a good amount of time. He has a quiver/twitch that wasn't present before in his face, so that's being investigated. And his left arm is swollen, so I have no idea what it all means. These next hours are crucial. He's listening to his music and I'm trying to not have my own heart attack in between my self-controlled panic attacks. #MakeZaneBetter
