Bring Zane Home to Florida!

Hello All! Thank YOU ALL for the overwhelming response to my plead for help with regard to Zane. While we still are working to be sure he and I are never separated, we have switched some gears.

I received a call from a Patient Advocate who works within the Tennessee State Department of Health at the Commissioner's office based on a call that Dawn, a big Zane fan placed. She is experienced with all sorts of complicated issues with patients like Zane. We now have decided, after discussions with Zane's medical caregivers, that the best scenario is to get Zane back to Florida, where we can be "home." This will have many moving parts and will not be easy. There is insurance, ventilator air transportation, finding the right facility, getting the authorizations and that's just the start of it.

It's premature to say this will happen, but it's the best solution for Zane and for me. We need to be with our family and friends where we can have the support we need around us physically. If Zane recovers and is well enough to return to St. Jude and continue treatment, we just get on back up here. What doesn't make sense is being kicked around from facility to facility here in Memphis, where we are separated and both essentially alone.
