We aren't Really OK

Hey guys. We are still in a sit and wait with regard to Zane coming off the ventilator. I'd be lying my face off if I said I'm ok right now. His breathing trial yesterday didn't go well enough, his breathing got too labored, so he's having another trial now. If he can't get extubated today, the plan is a tracheotomy MONDAY. Freaking Monday. So, right now, I'm ready to bawl my head off and have been doing just that, even when someone simply smiles at me. Today is Day 10 on the ventilator. I was told at the start 7-10 days is when patients should move off the vent. I'm ready to move on so we can sort out Zane's mental status and heart issues...oh...and his brain cancer. Let's not forget about that too.

So in a feeble effort to gather a chuckle, I would like to point out that some medical terms mean exactly the opposite of their literal words. Yesterday, his neuro doc said to me he was "largely unimpressed" with Zane's MRI from a couple days ago. My heart sank. They had told me that it looked great, no changes...even some improvement. So WTF now? Turns out "not being impressed" in the medical world is a good thing. Nothing left an impression, no alarm bells. Christ. 🙄 If things are listed as remarkable, it just means it's in good shape...nothing is shiny and glittery as I'd hoped. And a status post is not an update on Facebook, it's referencing an organ or tissue that has had a prior event. Whatevs...

This morning we have donuts to share with the ICU staff. They were "largely impressed" in the literal sense! Thanks to my family for the scrumptious delivery.

Pray, pray, pray Zane does well on this trial today and gets the tube out! #MakeZaneBetter
