Please Pray! Zane has suffered Cardiac Arrest
Hi Everyone. Thanks for all the prayers, calls, texts, messages and love. I feel like I say this again and again. But today was the scariest 12 minutes ever since everything started with Zane. If you missed the news earlier, Zane had a shocking and unexpected cardiac arrest event which led to a seizure. I’ve never performed CPR before and was alone with him. But with the guidance of my 911 operator, I did my best until the medics arrived. He had no pulse and even after the medics arrived, and had shocked him twice, he still didn’t have one wheeling him out. I truly drove with a police escort, screaming through the streets of Memphis, not sure if he was alive or not.
But, thank the Lord above he’s still with us. It’s been a terrifying ordeal and he’s still not awakened yet. He’s on a ventilator and although he can probably breathe on his own, they’ve moved ahead with the therapeutic hypothermia process so he will stay intubated for the long run. How this “suspended animation” works is Zane’s body temp will be reduced to 35 degrees Celsius for 24 hours. Then, slowly over the following 48 hours or so, they will slowly warm him. The idea here is to bring him back “to” in stages so all the body organs aren’t shocked at once and there is no permanent damage anywhere including the brain, heart and lungs.
So, this will be a process over the next few days and he’s sedated to stay as comfortable as possible. I’m not getting on the phone for calls much, but texts and messages are perfectly fine. But more than anything, please continue to lift Zane in prayer as so many of you have through all of his trials and tribulations. So please keep him with you a little extra right now. #MakeZaneBetter
