Mardis Gras Radiation Week

Hey Zaner fans! Happy Fat Tuesday & Mardi Gras! Hope you are all enjoying your King cake, 2nd line parades, costumes and beads! They had a big celebration downstairs in our building and we just finished taking all that good fun in. Memphis is a super New Orleans town. I've heard that's always been the way, but after Katrina, many refugees from NOLA ended up here, bringing all the ragin' cajun with them!

But, you're here to hear about Zane, so....(drummmm roll, please)...Zane is at the halfway mark for his CSI radiation. Treatment 15 of 30 was today. For the next 5 treatments, they will reduce the area on the photon beams and "boost" into the area that most disease was once there. So, why do I say "once?" Well, because the latest MRI (done Friday) is showing very good results so far...even clear, but it's not time to celebrate JUST YET. Treatment has been kicking his ass these last few days. A lot of fatigue, nausea and some weight loss, which is concerning. But, with the limited area "boost," he should bounce back pretty quickly. The last 10 treatments will then be proton (single beam) therapy and even more tolerable we hear.

After radiation, we will get a month (ish) break. We plan to take a road trip vacation, go home and regroup, then report back to Memphis for chemo. We know more about that as well, but one thing at a time!

So, overall....all still good in the treatment hood! Zaner is still rocking the socks. Here are this last week's socks and remember...together, we can all #MakeZaneBetter
